I remember this video. The absolutely most unimaginative waste of pixels ever created. And I love both these artists.

Yes and no. I’ve listened to this song may times, and only now did I realize that it’s about suicide. The video, while not interesting by today’s two-second cut standards, is a symbol of love and support that is unwavering. I actually think it’s pretty strong.

Don’t get me wrong. I have the album, and I love the song. I just don’t think the video enhances the song or does anything that justifies the use of the visual medium.

I’ve had the album in high rotation in the car for a few weeks now. It’s really a fantastic work of art, one of the greats of the ‘80s.

I hate modern LCD IPS technology. Watching the past through an absurdly accurate razor sharp filter of advanced technology makes everything from back then look like shit.

I wonder if people watching the stuff we made 200 years from now on holographic TVs will feel the same way.

Probably so. I watched MTV the day it launched. It seemed so new and amazing (back when they still showed videos), but looking back all these years later, it’s pretty obvious that nobody really had any idea what to do with the medium. That said, I think this is a really powerful video, even if it doesn’t really do anything. It’s all about holding steady and being strong, and that’s exactly what this video does.

Haven’t we already reached the threshold for maximum HD perception with 4K. On a side note, last time I watched Polar Express, I realized it looked like a well-budgeted cutscene on PS2. How the times change.

I like this song. I’ve never seen the video before. Not his best.

Perhaps, but I still think it’s a good video.
